EPFO Update on UAN Aadhaar Linking- How to link Aadhaar with UAN?

Employers in India had been asked to link Aadhaar with UAN for all of their employees before the deadline on 30th November, 2021.

It is mandatory to link Aadhaar with UAN for all the provident fund subscriber else employer will not be able to deposit monthly provident fund deposition against the non-Aadhaar seeded UAN.

Employees Provident Fund Organization has circulated the notification on 15th November, 2021. From 1st December, 2021 employer will not be allowed to file monthly ECR against non-Aadhaar seeded UAN.

There are multiple option available to link your Aadhaar with your UAN number. Here we will discuss how easily you can do that.

  • Link your Aadhaar with UAN at the time of Joining via Employer: At the time of joining in any organization, if you are eligible to get provident fund benefit then employer will create your UAN number and link your Aadhaar at the time of UAN creation by default.
  • Link your Aadhaar with UAN via EPFO Portal: You can link your Aadhaar with your UAN by yourself by visiting EPFO member portal. Step by step process is given below:
    • Visit EPFO Member Portal

    • Log in to your UAN Home Page using your UAN number and Password.
    • After log in to your member home page go to Manage> KYC> And Click on Aadhaar.
    • Provide your Aadhaar number> click on the checkbox and save accordingly.
    • If your UAN data like name and DOB is matching with the the data available in your Aadhaar then Aadhaar number will reflect in your UAN home page.
    • If your UAN data is not matching with the data available in your Aadhaar then you need to go to Manage> Basic details> provide your name, DOB, Gender details as per Aadhaar click on the checkbox and update.
    • Your Aadhaar linking request must approved by the employer and respective field office. After approval, within a couple of days your Aadhaar will be linked to your UAN automatically.
  • Link your Aadhaar with UAN via UMANG App: You can also link your Aadhaar with UAN via UMANG App. UMANG App is available for android and IOS play store. You need to download the application first to do further.
    • Download and open the Application> Select desire language( for 1st time User)> Log in using mobile number.
    • After log in, in the search bar search for EPFO.
    • In the search results a number available service list will open.
    • Select Aadhaar seeding from the list> go to eKYC service> Aadhaar seeding.
    • Under Aadhaar seeding you need to provide your UAN number. EPFO will send an OTP to your registered mobile number linked with your UAN.
    • Provide the OTP and click on submit.
    • Then system will ask to provide you your Aadhaar number and your Gender details. And an OTP will be send to your Aadhaar registered mobile number.
    • You just need to enter the OTP and click on submit. And your Aadhaar will be successfully linked to your UAN number.

What are the issues found in UAN Aadhaar linking?

During UAN Aadhaar linking some people/PF subscriber may encounter issues or difficulties due to KYC data like name or DOB mismatch, lost of UAN linked mobile number etc. In such case they may follow the below steps to link their Aadhaar with UAN successfully.

  • If DOB as per UAN of the person/subscriber is not matching with the Aadhaar data and difference of DOB is more than 3 year than the subscriber need to upload Birth certificate, educational certificate or any other relevant certificate to support the Aadhaar data at the time of Aadhaar linking via Manage> Basic details> provide your name, DOB, Gender details as per Aadhaar> upload the supporting documents in PDF file> click on the checkbox and update.
  • If you have not linked your Aadhaar at the time of joining and you have lost your UAN linked mobile number but your KYC data like name DOB is matching with the UAN data then you can link your Aadhaar by requesting your company through proper channel or HR.
  • And if you have lost your UAN linked mobile number and your Aadhaar and UAN KYC data is not matching then you have to submit Joint Declaration Form along with your Aadhaar Pan and relevant supporting documents via your employer, company or HR in respective PF field office. Then provident fund department first do the correction then link your Aadhaar.
