Latest Minimum Wages in Meghalaya in 2022 effective from 1st October, 2022

Minimum Wages in Meghalaya has been revised by the Labour Department for 29 Schedule Employment.

Official notification has been published on 21 October, 2022 vide notification number: LBG/75/2012/422 which was effective from 1st October, 2022.

Earlier this notification, the Governor of the State Mr. Satya Pal Malik was pleased to revised the Minimum Wages of the state effective from 1st April, 2022 for every establishment under Meghalaya Shops and Establishment Act.

The official notification was published on 31st March, 2022 vide notification Number: LBG 75/2012/417.

General Rules under Meghalaya Shops and Establishment Act

Every establishment or company comes under the purview of the Meghalaya Shops and Establishment Act and rules should pay the above Minimum wages from its effective date. Non payment of Minimum wages may attract penalties to the employer.

According to the provision of the Meghalaya Shops and Establishment Rule, 2004, every shops, commercial establishment, establishment for public entertainment and amusement required to take registration under the Act.

Every employer should issue appointment letter to the employee at the time of Joining in Form M under the Provision of the Act. Employer also liable to provide Earned Leave, Casual Leave and Medical Leave as per eligibility to Employees.

Every establishment should maintain proper records and registers like Register of Employment, Register of Hour of Work and Intervals, Register of Overtime Work and Payment of Overtime, Register of Leave etc. under the Provision of the Meghalaya Shops and Establishment Act and rules.
