ESIC late registration for newly joined employee may put the employer in trouble. ESIC will send notice for late registration to employer.
It is mandatory to register newly joined ESIC eligible employee under ESIC within 10 days from the date of joining as per the provision of the ESIC Act. Failing to do so employer will get notice from the ESIC in their registered mail id.
After getting notice for late employee registration employer required to submit relevant documents along with declaration form against the newly joined employee at respective ESIC branch office within stipulated time.
ESIC Late Registration Documents list to submit
Following are the list of documents need to submit at ESIC branch office for late registration of employee.
- Declaration Form.
- Appointment Letter.
- ID issued by Government.
- Salary and wages record.
Attendance Record.Details of accident( if any).Monthly contribution details from the date of appointment.
After submission of all the above documents at ESIC branch office in hard copy the officials will process the further verification. After verification if they satisfied then late registration is accepted by the ESIC. ESIC may conduct physical verification/inspection and site visit if necessary.
If the employer failed to submit the relevant documents at the respective ESIC branch office within stipulated time then the date of registration is taken as date of appointment.

ESIC Eligibility
ESIC is a premier organization providing social security benefit to its subscriber in terms of medical benefit, cash benefit, sickness benefit, maternity benefit etc. Every employee whose monthly gross salary is below 21000 should be eligible to get the benefit provided under the ESIC Act, 1948. In case of person with disability the wages ceiling for ESIC eligibility is 25000.
Contribution rate under ESIC
To get the benefit under ESIC employee need to contribute 0.75 % of monthly gross salary to the scheme. Again the employer need to contribute 3.25 % of the monthly gross salary against every eligible employee.
How to get benefit under ESIC
At the time of joining every ESIC eligible employee can get themselves registered under the ESIC via employer within 10 days from the date of appointment.
After registration employer will provide a statement called E- Pehchan card to employee. To get the medical benefit, employee required to visit the respective ESIC dispensary. The name of the ESIC dispensary will be available in the E- Pehchan cards.
