How to check your EPF Balance
Basically there are 4 simple process of checking PF balance just within a few minute. It is because PF department enable all groups of its subscribers to avail there basic services. Those are by giving miss calls, over the SMS, over the internet via their web portal, and using EPFO mobile apps over UMANG Platform.

EPF Balance via Miss call
By giving miss call to the number provided by PF department by your mobile number that is registered and linked with your UAN/PF account, you will able to get the details of your PF balance. The number provided by the PF department for this service is 011-22901406. But there are few conditions to avail this service. First your UAN number must be activated, second any one of the KYC documents like pan card, adhaar card or bank account number must be seeded against your UAN. The major drawback of using this system is that you can only get the total PF balance with last month contribution details over text massage but PF does not provide the pension amount.
EPF Balance over SMS
In next method of checking PF balance you need to send a simple text massage from your registered mobile number. The format of writing the text massage is like “ EPFOHO UAN’’ to 7738299899. If you want to receive the massage in any out of ten available regional language like English (default language), Hindi, Gujrati, Marathi, Kannad, Punjabi, Telegu, Tamil, Malayalam and Bengali then first 3 letters of the language in capital need to be added and send the text massage is like” EPFOHO UAN ENG ” to 7738299899.
EPF balance over the internet via EPFO official website
Another system of checking PF balance is visiting PF portal via mobile or computer over the internet. For using this system you were also enable to download epf passbook there you can see the complete monthly contribution details including your pension amount. So, the step by step process including screenshot given below for your reference.
- Visit EPF official website in your mobile/laptop/computer by your web browser. And you will be landed in the below screenshot page.
- In the EPF passbook and claim status log in page you have to log in Using your UAN number and password. After successful log in into EPF passbook and claim status home page you have to select the PF member ID from the dropdown menu. In dropdown menu all the PF number Linked with your UAN will be show. You have to select the desire one to see the balance.
- After selecting PF member id next you have to click on the view passbook option. And your PF monthly statement will reflect.
- If you wish to download the PF passbook then select the download passbook button and your PF passbook will be downloaded to your hard drive of your device in the next step.
- EPF passbook and claim status home page you can also able to check the status of your online claims such as PF advance in form 31, PF withdrawal in Form 19, Pension claim in Form 10C and PF transfer status in Form 13.
EPF Balance via EPFO mobile apps over UMANG Platform
EPFO mobile App over UMANG platform is another source of getting not only EPF balance but a wide variety of services an employee can avail using UMANG App. UMANG( Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) app is developed by Ministry of Electronics and Information technology (MeitY) and National e- governance Division (NeGD).
UMANG app combines all government departments and their services to a single platform and PF is one of the department and services. UMANG app is vey popular among employees and employer to avail the services they want just in a simple clicks. UMANG app in works on android platform. That’s means to avail services using UMANG app you need to have an android phone. Step by step process is in below:
- To download UMANG app to avail services PF like balance check, Online apply for Claims and all you have to download and install the app from Google play store.
- After downloading you have to register yourself by using your mobile number. And a OTP verification required to Authenticate your mobile number.
- After register yourself go to the home page of the app and click of the EPFO icon.
- After entering into EPFO home page go to Employee centric services.
- The first option you can see under employee centric services is View passbook.
- After clicking on View passbook you were asked to login using your UAN. And an OTP will come to your register mobile number.
- After inserting your OTP click on submit/login.
- After login all the employer/company will show with their PF number.
- Click on the company/PF number your passbook will open in next step.
- You can see your employer details, PF number, employee share, employer share and pension contribution in the top of the screen. And month wise contribution details also showing below.
- You just need to scroll down the page and click on download.
- And your PF passbook will be downloaded in pdf file.
